We are just back from Spitzbergen a few hours ago and have to say that I think this was the best cruise we have been on; it was made even more special by the Captain - Olav Sovdsnes - not only for the way he varied the itinerary to include even more beautiful places but also for his commentary on what could be seen. He is justly proud of his country.

We just wanted to let you know of the fantastic time my husband and I had on our very first cruise. My husband has unfortunately suffered a stroke so we decided a cruise would be an ideal way to help in his recovery. Although it was a long journey to Dover it was well worth it. The moment we arrived at the cruise terminal we were well looked after, our luggage was taken away and we were told we would next see it in our cabin, that was a relief. Everything else went very smoothly, our cabin stewardess (Beth) was lovely and very welcoming, nothing was to much trouble for her. Our cabin was very clean, a nice size and comfortable. The staff in the bars and our waiters, although you see they work extremely hard always had a smile and polite manner. They remembered our cabin number and names within a day! Our waiters in the Glentanar Restaurant were exceptional.
The food was amazing, I felt as though a lot of magical things happened in the kitchens, it was mind blowing. The cruise really did us a world of good, we have lots of happy memories. Thank-you very much, we hope it won't be too long before we are back on board.

We sailed on a 4 day cruise on the Braemar, visiting Kirkwall and Bergen and what a great time we had. This was our third cruise on the Braemar and, as usual, the crew were fantastic, food was excellent and our cabin was great. Only being on board for four days, we tried to cram everything in but there was too much choice and not enough time. Daytime and evening entertainment was very good and suitable for all ages. Our "South Island and Distillery" excursion in Kirkwall and the "Explore Hardangerfjord" excursion in Bergen were well organised and informative. We had great weather which enhanced our arrival into the ports, particularly at Bergen, which is very picturesque. Who would have believed we would still be sitting on deck as we sailed out of Bergen at 0030 hours - it was so warm!
Our thanks go to everyone who works on the Braemar and helped to make our mini cruise such a great trip and we are looking forward to our next cruise with Fred Olsen.
